Be the Buffalo in 2023

One of life’s great truths is that you are either heading into a storm, in the middle of a storm or just coming out of a storm. Storms are a part of life. What’s important is how you handle a storm. We can learn a lot from nature when it comes to facing the storms of life.

It’s interesting to see the difference between how a cow and a buffalo handle a storm. Both cows and buffalo can sense when a storm is approaching. Cows sense the storm coming and so they start to run the opposite direction, away from the storm as fast as they can. The only problem with that is that if you know anything about cows you know they aren’t very fast. What happens is they get caught in the storm and end up running with it, exhausted, in pain, and prolonging the time that they spend in the storm.

When a herd of buffalo sees a storm coming, they CHARGE. It’s the same storm that the cows see, the difference is, the animal’s reaction to it. By running directly into the storm, the buffalo minimizes the storm’s impact and break through into the sun on the other side. The buffalo has learned the secret to minimizing the amount of pain, time and frustration they experience from a storm by charging into it.

Two approaches to handling the exact same storm. It’s such a great metaphor for all of us because all of us are dealing with the same types of storms.

The truth of the matter is that it’s not if a storm is going to come into your life in 2023 its just a matter of when. But what if in 2023 you dealt with the storms that hit your life like a buffalo and charge into it?
